Shooting Day?
Tuesday, March 17th, 2009 by Kai
A few random thoughts:
We’re supposed to shoot our video today, but we’re running a little behind schedule. One of the problems we’re facing is recreating Mel Kiper Jr’s hair. If you look at it, it’s very helmet like. It has a lot of volume. Yesterday we went to a wig shop but got very little help, and none of the wigs came even close to what we’re looking for. If you have any suggestions, please let us know. We’re desperate.
Life in the office right now is pretty horrible. Nate has been practicing his best Mel Kiper for a couple hours and he’s screaming at his computer right now about some draft pick. Even turning the music up in my headphones doesn’t seem to work.
It’ll actually be interesting to see if this video is successful. There are a number of variables that we’re juggling, including Mel’s hair, a location we haven’t found yet, and Nate’s performance. Here’s a look at the real Mel Kiper jr so you know what we’re dealing with:
Christopher’s Promise – Behind the Scenes Pt. 2
Wednesday, March 11th, 2009 by KaiVideo production is a tough job. A few hours ago I was reminded of that fact. We were shooting a pretty cinematic shot when… well, I’ll let you see for yourself:
“What will you do for the video” became one of our mottos while traveling through Asia. The slogan is comfort for me now, but to be honest, if I would have known beforehand that I was going to eat pavement, I’d probably have suggested that we not shoot this video.
Anxiety? It’s Cause And Effect
Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009 by KaiOver the last four months reasonable people have told me that starting a business right now “must be tough” and “is unfortunate due to the economic climate”. At the same time, similarly reasonable people have said to me that “this is the right time to start a company” and “you’re at an advantage with the economy the way it is”. This causes confusion. And for me, confusion causes anxiety.
The number of people I know that have been laid off – smart, talented, young people, a trend – is growing at an alarming rate. The company I used to work at, my first foray into the corporate lifestyle and my only new social circle post-college, is knocking people out left and right. I’m not 100% sure that unemployment is all that bad right now(it’s a case by case thing), but witnessing it all, well, it causes anxiety.
Rent: $900; Health Insurance: $300; Car Insurance $140; Taxes? I haven’t figured that part out yet. Anxiety.
NewTeeVee, can you make up your mind: Is internet video screwed or not? Oh, it’s totally screwed? Right. Anxiety.
With that said, all this recession stuff has given us Unemploymentality, a blog by a couple people I used to work with. I’m not technically unemployed, but it’s relieved quite a bit of my stress.
