iPWN is Released

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010 by Kai

It’s been a while since Nate and I have released a web show. This time around we teamed up with IGN Entertainment, the gigantic video game website to create iPWN, a show about iPhone games. It’s a reach for us, but we’re very happy with what we’ve come up with. I think you’ll see that we’ve tried some new things here. Enjoy!

Ian Does It With Christmas Vol. 3

Thursday, December 10th, 2009 by Nate

One of Portal A’s most esteemed collaborators, Ian Pfaff, has just released his third Christmas album featuring tracks such as “Merry Christmas (F*ck Y’all)” and “My Liquor Cabinet (Is Bigger Than Your Liquor Cabinet).”  It’s unbelievably funny and can be downloaded here for free: doitwithchristmas.com.  Makes a great stocking stuffer!

Hypothetical situation involving “Ninja Assasin”

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009 by Nate

I’m walking down the street in the middle of the day.

STRANGER: Excuse me, sir. May I speak with you for a moment?
ME: Whoa, you scared me!
STRANGER: I’d like to give you $1,000.
ME: Sick! I could totally use that.
STRANGER: I can tell.
ME: A thousand bucks, wow!  Rock!  Wait a second…there isn’t some sort of catch, is there?
STRANGER: There’s a catch.
ME: God damnit!
STRANGER: It’s not a big one.  The only thing you have to do is agree that you’ll never see this one movie.
ME: Oh, thank god! I thought I was going to have to join Jews for Jesus or someting. Not seeing a movie is so easy! Most movies suck.
STRANGER: Agreed. So you’ll do it?
ME: Sure.
(He starts to hand me the money).
ME: Wait.  Can I just see the trailer to make sure?
(Pause)
STRANGER: OK.  But remember: a thousand dollars.
ME: Got it.

STRANGER: So all you have to do is sign right here….
ME: Holy…
STRANGER: Nate? Nate?!!?!
I laugh hysterically and run away.

This is a giggle

Halloween’s A Weird One

Thursday, October 29th, 2009 by Nate

Over the course of my life, my relationship towards Halloween has gone through so many phases, it’s difficult to determine how I feel about it now.  Here’s how it’s broken down so far:

Age 5 through 10. When you’re seven years old, Halloween is the single greatest thing that’s ever been created.  It’s almost seemed criminal how amazing it is.  I remember getting back from a long night of trick-or-treating, pouring my candy out onto the floor of my living room, separating it into tiers and making elaborate trades with my brother (since he had the less discerning taste buds at the time, it was almost always a volume-for-quality exchange).

Age 10 through 12. “Are we still doing this?”  Hell yeah, we’re still doing this.  Are you kidding? (more…)

Kanye West = the Internet

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009 by Nate

Great week for Portal A so far. We just shot the pilot to a new show that we’ve been developing for a hot/cool minute (which one is longer?) and we have a new intern in the office, whom I’m sure you’ll meet very soon in one way or another.

This morning, as I dialed up my typical 3-20 internet videos to get a feel for what the kids are watching, I realized that basically every single one had some reference to Kanye West.  He may have taken a short break from the spotlight following the release of “Imma Let U Finish” ft. Taylor Swift, but his dominion over the internet and popular culture has soared to new heights.  Here are some of my faves from the Kanye meme vault.
