Political Viral: 2 Legit 2 Quit

Portal A is a creative studio that specializes in video production and content distribution online. We make sharable content – not ads – driven by bold creative specifically designed for the web.

We've racked up tens of millions of views on our videos, worked with and consulted for clients in apparel, sports, politics, travel, education, and tech, and garnered some nice press coverage. Meet the partners:

Kai Hasson, Co-Founder, Creative Director | LinkedIn | Twitter
Kai is a connoisseur of parlor games, a lover of corn beef, and is still trying to convince the world that Harrison Ford is a good actor. He is striving to tell the greatest story ever told.

Nate Houghteling, Co-Founder, Executive Producer | LinkedIn | Twitter
Nate is an occasional viral video star, a wheeler/dealer, and an unrepentant Oakland A's fan. He wants to talk to you about the future of digital entertainment. Honestly.

Zach Blume, Partner, Managing Director | LinkedIn | Twitter
In a former life, Zach was a grizzled political consultant helping candidates and causes win the online space. Now all he dreams about are view counts, youtube metadata, and beautifully produced videos.

YouTube Rewind 2011
YouTube asked us to create their official recap of the best videos of 2011. We cast Rebecca Black (of course) and created the most epic montage we could muster (heavy on babies and cats). 1.5 million views on day one.

2 Legit 2 Quit
We teamed up with MC Hammer and Brian Wilson for a remake of "2 Legit 2 Quit" in support of SF Mayor Ed Lee. The video was recognized as the best political spot of the year by The Atlantic, Time Magazine, The Washington Post, and the AP.

White Collar Brawler
An award-winning documentary web series that combined 40 episodes of real-time video storytelling, events with over 1,000 attendees, and an interactive social media strategy with over 20,000 fans. Covered in the New York Times.

Wednesday Was A Good Day
To promote Jawbone's JAMBOX speaker, we re-made an Ice Cube classic and cast some of YouTube's top talent. The video was featured on the homepage of TechCrunch and remixed by Linkin Park.

Tequila Academy
Working with Tres Agaves, Portal A conceptualized and produced this 8-episode travel series, shot on location in Jalisco, Mexico. Each episode has garnered tens of thousands of views and at least 1 glass of 100% pure agave tequila per view.

Don’t Stop Believing
This playoff anthem for the San Francisco Giants was the most watched YouTube video in the Bay Area in 2010 and was featured on ESPN, CNN, Yahoo Sports, USA Today, and more. 2.5 million views and counting...

Fashion Show...On a Plane
Ever wondered what a fashion show at 35,000 feet would look like? Neither had we... until Banana Republic asked us to design a video highlighting their new Mad Men collection on a plane. Featured exclusively on Huffington Post.

Viral Video SF
We brought together a host of experts in branded content for a panel discussion about online video. Nearly 200 attended and 2,000 watched online at Tubefilter.com. Sponsored by Sidereel and Tres Agaves Tequila.

NewSchools "Education Entrepreneurs"
We directed over 15 hours of live coverage for the NewSchools Summit, a leading Silicon Valley education conference and created a 10-episode video campaign for this nonprofit venture fund called "Education Entrepreneurs."

Bankers vs. Consultants
This viral hit satirizing Wall Street was used as a promotional tool for a release from Hyperion Books. We dare you to find a banker or a consultant who hasn't seen this video.

Huge in Asia
Before we launched Portal A, we chronicled our nine-month motorcycle journey through Vietnam, Cambodia, Mongolia, Thailand, and China in a 30-episode video series that was eventually sold to Lonely Planet.

iPWN
This comedy web show created in partnership with IGN Entertainment was an instant hit among iPhone gamers. Starring Nate and his iPhone counterpart TJ. Not suitable for young ones.

Vocab Videos
We designed a unique learning system with A-List Education, producing over 500 (yes, 500) short vignettes to teach high school students SAT-level vocabulary through online video.
